At Arcadia we promote a safe, peaceful, and environmentally friendly atmosphere, where children learn through nature and play. We teach the importance of thoughtful communication and respect. Both our Tacoma and Gig Harbor schools share a common vision and classroom curriculum. You’ll also find vast outdoor areas at both locations, allowing children to play and learn vital skills outside. With a low student to teacher ratio, we ensure every child gets the care and nurturing he or she needs to thrive.
Our Tacoma location first opened in 1975, originally in a store front on South 12th and Proctor Street, where it was purchased by Carmela Micheli. And in 1990 we moved to our current location at 6312 North 30th Street. In 2009 Carmela started construction of a second location in Gig Harbor. In 2012 we opened the doors of our new school – Arcadia Montessori, Gig Harbor.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the closure of our Tacoma campus. After more than 45 years of engaging with young children and families of Tacoma, Carmela has decided to focus on her Gig Harbor community. Tacoma will forever be grateful for her influence and guidance.
